Discover | Teach | Heal
Edition 1 | April 2018
I’m pleased to welcome you to the UCI School of Medicine newsletter.  Our goal with this communication is to share our successes, celebrate the recognition we’ve received, and inform our School of Medicine community about the opportunities we are pursuing to further medical research, enhance our innovative learning environment, and ultimately deliver better care to individuals around the world.

Among the many topics we cover in this issue is the new funding our faculty has received and the pioneering efforts they’ve launched to address some of the most pressing health issues of our time. You’ll read about how we’re ranked among the top 50 medical schools in the country, and you’ll share in the excitement as you read about how all 99 of our medical students were matched with institutions across the nation where they will serve their residencies.  Also, you’ll learn about new efforts underway to engage volunteers in the new NIH Precision Medicine Initiative.

This first newsletter covers many of our recent accomplishments, but there’s much more to share.  Stay tuned as we plan to deliver this news on an ongoing basis.  And, I invite you to contribute.  If you have news you’d like us to highlight, please let us know at SOMNews@uci.edu.

Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Michael J. Stamos, MD
Dean, UCI School of Medicine
