UPDATE: On April 18, 2018, the deadline for TWIA policyholders to request appraisal on their Harvey claim was extended. The new deadline is 180 days from the day a policyholder received their most recent Notice of Claim Acceptance (in full or in part) letter.

Note: Some commercial policies have a 150-day deadline. For more details, please refer to www.twia.org/extensionletter.

Dear Agent,

At the end of our sixth week post-Harvey, we want to make sure the agent community has the most current information and resources to address their policyholders' needs. This bulletin outlines the best ways to contact TWIA, introduces our new online resource hub, and revisits the extension of the deadline to 120 days for policyholders to file a request for an appraisal.

Please share this information with your policyholders and fellow agents.

Three Ways to Contact TWIA

For ease of access, we have created this graphic with TWIA contact information.

  1. Log into the Claims Center to manage a claim. Claims Center can be accessed electronically 24 hours a day at the links below:
    • Agent access is through the Agent Portal: https://portal.twia.org/twia/do/login
    • Policyholder access is through the Policyholder Portal: https://policy.twia.org/loginPage
      • New policyholder users can register by clicking "New User Registration" on the login screen to create a profile and password. Please share with your clients the guidelines for setting up an account with your client.
      • Please note: As of this morning, we have fixed an issue affecting the Policyholder Portal that caused closed claims to not display. This issue did not affect the Claims Center for Agents.

Online Resource Hub

Please visit our online resource hub for easy-to-read guides on the TWIA claims process. Our newest guide outlines what to do if a policyholder believes their claim payment isn't enough to pay for covered repairs. We will continue to add guides here as they become available.

Deadline Extended to 120 Days to File a Request for an Appraisal

Under normal circumstances, policyholders have 60 days from the date they receive their Claim Disposition letter to request appraisal. However, for claims arising from Hurricane Harvey, TWIA recommended more time be granted to policyholders and TDI has extended the deadline to 120 days

Please review our September 28 agent bulletin on this topic to learn more.
