TWIA Legislative Update
Greetings:

The Association’s response to Hurricane Beryl is underway. TWIA activated its Catastrophe Incident Response (CAT) Plan on Friday. Activating the CAT Plan allows us to more quickly respond to policyholders with losses from the storm by scaling up claim resources early.

As of Tuesday morning, we have received more than 3,300 TWIA claims and just under 500 claims for Texas FAIR Plan Association (TFPA). So far, we have seen the most TWIA claims reported from Galveston and Brazoria Counties; most FAIR Plan claims are from Harris County.

To help ensure your impacted constituents can recover as quickly as possible, please share with them the information below.

Information for Impacted TWIA Policyholders

Report a claim one of four ways:
  • Online: Use the Policyholder Portal by logging in.
  • Chat: Use the 24-hour chat option on our claims webpage.
  • Text: Text “Hello” to (512) 645-2846.
  • Call: Call (800) 788-8247, select option 1.
Information for Impacted FAIR Plan Policyholders

Report a claim one of four ways:
  • Online: By registering or logging into Claims Center.
  • Chat: Use the 24-hour chat option on our claims webpage.
  • Text: Text “Hello” to (512) 645-2226.
  • Call: Call (800) 979-6440, select option 1.
Policyholders should have their TWIA or FAIR Plan policy number, best contact information, and property damage details ready. Please note that TWIA and FAIR Plan cannot accept claims that are reported through email or fax.

TWIA and FAIR Plan policyholders who have damage to their property can immediately make any temporary repairs needed to prevent further damage and should keep receipts for those repairs. Permanent repairs, such as a roof replacement or asphalt patches, should not be made until after a TWIA or TFPA adjuster has completed an inspection. More information on temporary and permanent repairs can be found at https://www.twia.org/claims/repairs/.

Policy moratoriums for TWIA and FAIR Plan, which were put in place on Friday when Hurricane Beryl entered the Gulf of Mexico, have been lifted and both plans are now accepting applications for new or increased coverage.

We encourage policyholders to visit our website or follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on this storm and TWIA’s response to it.
