Hurricane season is here and TWIA policyholders can trust us to be ready to respond when a storm impacts the Texas coast. 

TWIA Is Ready to Respond
We have secured access to $6.227 billion in funding and updated our Catastrophe (CAT) Incident Response Plan to ensure we quickly and effectively respond to policyholders in the event of a hurricane.
  • TWIA’s CAT Plan – At the heart of our storm preparedness program is our CAT Plan. It outlines how TWIA prepares for, responds to, and aids in the recovery process for catastrophic storms. The CAT Plan is updated each year and published along with the TWIA Annual Report.
  • Funded to $6.227 Billion – TWIA has secured access to funding totaling $6.227 billion for the 2025 hurricane season. This meets our statutory funding requirement to respond to a 1-in-100 year storm season. 
Hurricane Preparedness Program for Coastal Residents

Every year, TWIA supports a range of outreach and education efforts to help coastal residents prepare for hurricane season. 

The “Ready to Respond” Hurricane Preparedness Program includes virtual and in-person outreach events to provide information on TWIA policy coverage, windstorm certification requirements, and how TWIA supports catastrophe response efforts (hear from TWIA’s catastrophe planning expert on what policyholders should know for the 2025 storm season). 

TWIA also develops and distributes various educational materials, including our dedicated Hurricane Preparedness page, storm-specific recovery pages, and print and digital advertising in coastal areas for policyholders (image on left).
