Assumption Reinsurance Depopulation Program Next Steps
Agents with Policies Selected for Depopulation: 

Thank you for your participation in the TWIA Assumption Reinsurance Depopulation Program. Now that the agent selection period has come to a close, and you have approved offers from participating depopulation insurers, we wanted to remind you of several important program milestones.
  • Please ensure that you have been appointed by, or are otherwise authorized to place business with, the participating insurer whose offer(s) you approved.
  • As a reminder, the Texas Legislature passed a law in 2019 to change the depopulation programs and improve agent and policyholder experience by eliminating any decisions during storm season. These changes take effect this program year. As we have now entered storm season, no decisions related to the program can be made by insurers, agents, or policyholders until storm season ends.
  • Once storm season ends, the next phase of the program, the policyholder decision period, will begin. During this period policyholders will have 60 days—from December 3, 2021 to January 31, 2022—to choose whether to stay with TWIA or have their policy transferred to a participating carrier. We will reach out with additional information regarding this phase of the program closer to the end of storm season.
