Greetings:
The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association and Texas FAIR Plan continue to receive claims from Hurricane Beryl at a slower rate. As of September 27, we have received 30,876 TWIA claims and 9,609 FAIR Plan claims. To date, we have paid $245.1 million on TWIA claims and $70.3 million on FAIR Plan claims. For TWIA, nearly 72% of claims have been closed or are open with a payment already made to the policyholder; for FAIR Plan this figure is 92%.
On the morning of Wednesday, September 25, TWIA implemented a policy moratorium due to Hurricane Helene’s presence in the Gulf of Mexico. FAIR Plan also implemented a policy moratorium for the 14 first-tier coastal counties and Harris County. Both moratoriums were lifted at 12:01 a.m. the following day.
Additional resources for policyholders are available on the Association websites: TWIA.org and TexasFAIRPlan.org.
Should you have any questions, please contact me at DDurden@twia.org.or (512) 505-2255.
Sincerely,
David Durden
