Greetings:
Tropical Storm Idalia reached hurricane status while within the 80 degrees west longitude and 20 degrees north latitude, which requires TWIA to put a policy moratorium in effect.
Currently, the storm is not expected to pose a threat to the TWIA coverage area. Forecasts and modeling continue to predict the storm will make landfall in Florida by Wednesday.
TWIA anticipates resuming accepting applications and issuing policies according to underwriting guidelines at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30. You can visit our website to learn more about TWIA policy moratoriums.
Your constituents or their insurance agents with questions or concerns may contact Policy Services at agentservices@twia.org or (800) 788-8247. Our normal business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
