Greetings:

As you may be aware from media reports, three Galveston-area policyholders have filed a lawsuit against TWIA alleging violations of federal racketeering statutes related to our handling of claims from Hurricane Beryl. Here is a copy of the lawsuit.

The Association maintains a practice of refraining from substantive public comment on matters that are the subject of active or potential litigation. We believe this lawsuit is without merit, and I want to assure you that the Association's claims-adjusting procedures comply with applicable Texas and federal laws. As you know, TWIA is a not-for-profit insurance carrier, and our claims-adjusting procedures are in place for the benefit of all policyholders.

Association staff will continue to be as responsive as possible to your inquiries on this or any other matter.

Should you have any questions, please contact me at DDurden@twia.org or (512) 505-2255.

Sincerely,

David Durden
