| Bernard Choi, PhD (Surgery & Biomedical Engineering), with MPI team, Michelle Khine, PhD (Biomedical Engineering) and Amir Rahmani, PhD (Nursing), received an NIH R21 titled, “Patch for hemodynamic and hemorrhage monitoring.” This project aims to tackle the global challenge of trauma, a leading cause of death, by focusing on hemorrhage - a preventable factor in many cases. By developing a wearable technology that monitors vital signs and predicts the risk of bleeding, we aim to make early detection and intervention possible, potentially saving millions of lives. This technology, designed to be inclusive and effective across all skin types, represents a significant step towards personalized, timely medical care, addressing the immediate needs in trauma management and broader health disparities.
