A new study from BBADegree.org, based on Glassdoor reviews, rated companies on degrees of employee burnout. While Chipotle (97.72 out of 100) had the highest degree of burnout for foodservice-related companies, Yum! Brands was the foodservice-related company in which employees experienced the least amount of burnout with a score of just under 18 out of 100.

KFC India has launched a new campaign that celebrates five Zinger Burgers with flavors from India, America, Mexico and the Caribbean. The International Burger Fest lineup includes the Indian Tandoori Zinger, Caribbean Spicy Zinger and the all new Paneer Zinger.

For a limited time, McDonald's is offering a new version of the McCrispy chicken sandwich with the arrival of the Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy. It features a new, spicy Cajun ranch sauce, a crispy-fried chicken filet, applewood-smoked bacon and crinkle-cut pickles, served on a toasted potato bun.

Tijuana Flats has announced the closure of 11 of its restaurants and that it has filed for bankruptcy as part of a deal to sell to an ownership group called Flatheads LLC. Tijuana Flats declared $1 million to $10 million in assets and from $10 million to $50 million in liabilities. The chain started the year with 105 corporate locations and has closed 40 stores this year. Franchisees operate another 26 locations.

According to a Morgan Stanley survey released last week, the majority of people taking weight-loss medications are spending less on eating out at restaurants (63%) and ordering takeout (61%). Morgan Stanley said that GLP-1s are a manageable long-term pressure on restaurants and are not an “existential risk.” “Restaurants offer convenience and/or experience in addition to food, and that won’t change with GLP-1 usage,” the analysts said. But some restaurants may have to adapt to health-conscious consumer behaviors, they noted.

Business Insider spoke to consumers who said that they are cutting back on how often they get fast-food because of rising prices with some choosing sit-down restaurants or cooking at home more instead. Sara Senatore, a restaurant analyst at Bank of America, told Business Insider that as inflation comes down, she's expecting consumers to be even "less tolerant" of the price increases in the restaurant industry. |
Dr. Jeremy Farrar, the chief scientist of the World Health Organization, said that he was concerned about the spread of bird flu through cows in the United States and called for more tracking and preparation for the virus. So far in the United States, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services has reported 29 infected herds in eight states — Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, South Dakota, Idaho, Michigan, Ohio and North Carolina.

Dave & Buster’s plans growth in the Dominican Republic, while Marco's Pizza has announced a multi-unit deal in Mexico City. Popeyes will open its first Italian unit this year as part of its multi-unit deal with master franchise RB Iberia. Marble Slab Creamery, Chuck E. Cheese and Fazoli’s also announced international moves. |
In New Jersey, a woman has filed a lawsuit against the Wendy’s corporation, claiming she became extremely ill and went to the hospital after eating a Junior Cheeseburger Deluxe and Caesar salad with pomegranate dressing and parmesan crisps that she bought from a restaurant in East Orange. The woman’s lawsuit alleges Wendy’s and its workers failed to exercise reasonable care in the preparation of the food, which was “contaminated.”

Flynn Group is partnering with Zipline, who will provide drone deliveries from select Panera Bread stores in the Greater Seattle metro area beginning early next year. Zipline has made one million paid customer deliveries since October 2016 and said it is now able to scale quickly due to recent regulatory approvals of its on-board perception system allowing for commercial delivery operations beyond visual line of sight.
