Perinatal mental illness is a leading cause of death during pregnancy and the first postpartum year in the U.S. Alison Stuebe, MD, MSc, professor of maternal fetal medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the UNC School of Medicine, authored a study with colleagues on how a holistic approach comprising seven domains can foster conditions for women and birthing people to thrive.

The Osteoarthritis Action Alliance, housed at the Thurston Arthritis Research Center, launched the “Remain in the Game App” featuring step-by-step videos and coaching tips to help athletes stay healthy and in the game, avoid sports injury, and reach top sports performance.

| | Study Examines Plagiarism Among Rhinology Scientific Journals |

UNC Otolaryngology resident Ezer Benaim, MD, has published an article in the International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology. The study evaluated the rate of plagiarism in Rhinology journals and found that 42% had at least one incidence of plagiarism, predominantly text recycling from the author's previously published articles. | |

On April 2, following an investigation, the University and UNC Hospitals began mailing letters to impacted individuals whose information may have been involved in a February email security breach. Please remember to think before you click and report any suspicious activity to ITS. When in doubt, don’t click.

One of the main priorities of the Mental Health Equity and Inclusion Program is to increase the number of qualified students interested in pursuing careers in psychiatry. At a national conference, the program engaged with medical students interested in learning more about residency training at UNC, future career options in psychiatry, living in the Triangle, and becoming more engaged in mental health equity.
