Researchers at the UNC Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases and the Thurston Arthritis Research Center published a research paper in JAMA Network Open on the relationship between a red meat allergy – caused from a tick bite leading to alpha-gal syndrome – and knee pain.

UNC-Chapel Hill Designated as Scleroderma Research and Treatment Center
This National Scleroderma Foundation designation highlights the UNC School of Medicine’s proficiency in providing care for individuals affected by scleroderma, an autoimmune condition leading to thickening of the skin and other body areas and affecting approximately 300,000 people in the country, mostly women between the ages of 30 and 50.

Game Day Parking Reminder
The Tar Heels will take on Duke in Chapel Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3. University employees who park in S11 zones and scheduled to work on Saturday should submit a basketball request form to register for game day parking in Craige Deck and present their UNC One Card to exit the deck free of charge. Additionally, the Tar Heels will take on Clemson on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.
