A Message from the Owen Student Government Association (OSGA)

Owen Community,

As we kick off Cosmopolitan Week, allow me to share a personal perspective on what this event means to me and why it holds such a significant place in our hearts.

To be candid, before last year's Cosmopolitan Week, the term "cosmopolitan" was a bit of a mystery to me. Little did I know that this event would be a catalyst for profound personal growth and an eye-opening experience. Serving as a senator on the OSGA EDI committee, I had the privilege of being involved in the planning of last year's Cosmopolitan Week. It was during this time that I truly began to understand the depth and importance of being cosmopolitan.

The planning process itself was an education – a journey into understanding the intricacies of different cultures and the power of bringing them together. It was more than just organizing events; it was about fostering connections, bridging gaps, and creating an inclusive space for every member of our community.

As a result of this experience, I found myself building lasting relationships with many international students. These connections became more than just collaborations on committee work; they blossomed into friendships that I cherish deeply. Through shared experiences, conversations, and the unique perspectives each individual brought to the table, I discovered the richness of diversity within our Owen community.

This week, as we roll out the 5th annual Cosmopolitan Week, I am incredibly honored to serve as your OSGA President. The significance of this event has grown in my heart, knowing the impact it has had on my personal journey and the bonds it has forged within our community.

Cosmopolitan Week is more than just a series of events; it is a celebration of unity in diversity. It represents the culmination of our collective efforts to create a community where every story matters, and every voice is heard. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead our school during this momentous occasion and to witness the continued growth and strengthening of our diverse community.

I invite each one of you to join me in embracing the spirit of Cosmopolitan Week. Let's celebrate the uniqueness of our individual stories and the beauty that arises when we come together. Here's to the 5th annual Cosmopolitan Week – a celebration of cultures, connections, and cherished memories.

Warm Cosmopolitan Regards,
Evelyn Ward, OSGA President

Garage Under Construction
This week, January 15 – January 20, we will be applying fireproofing throughout the entire garage. The time frame in which the work will be performed is 7PM – 3AM. During this time, the garage needs to be free of all vehicles.
