Orr Co-Authors Article About U.S. Pediatric Subspecialty Workforce
Colin Orr, MD, MPH, assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics, is a co-author of a supplement article published in Pediatrics on Feb. 1. The article, “Child Health and the US Pediatric Subspecialty Workforce: Planning for the Future,” is the first of a multi-part supplement that provides a rigorous analysis of the projected pediatric subspecialty workforce in the United States.

Amy Bryant, MD, presented alongside fourth-year medical students at the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Faculty Development Seminar in Amelia Island, FL. Bryant serves as a faculty advisor for Brittany Cureton, MPH, Sophia McFarlane, MPH, and Madeline Thornton, MPH. Empowering Women in Urology: SWIU Conference Highlights
The Society of Women in Urology (SWIU) recently held its Clinical Mentoring Conference, and representatives from the UNC Department of Urology, Angela Smith, MD, Katherine Chan, MD, MPH, and Kathryn Hacker Gessner, MD, PhD, attended and presented. Additionally, Smith, who serves as a member of the organization’s board of directors, served as co-chair for this year’s conference.

Black Alumni Experience Project
Black History Month honors the contributions and influences of Black Americans to the history of the United States. This Black History Month, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion wants to highlight the Black Alumni Experience Project.

This project was conceived by medical students from the UNC chapter of the Student National Medical Association and was led by Raúl Necochea López, PhD, of the Department of Social Medicine. The Black Alumni Experience Project documents the lived experience of black alums at the UNC School of Medicine in the 1960s and 1970s.
