Wall Street Journal: Chicken nuggets in reusable bowls? McDonald’s isn’t lovin’ it
The Wall Street Journal reported on how McDonald's is being affected by a new law in France that requires fast-food restaurants to serve dine-in orders in reusable containers. “We don’t want France to be the template because we strongly believe that this doesn’t work,” said Serge Thines, the company’s head of international government relations. “It’s very problematic,” he added. McDonald’s is up against proposed laws mandating reusables or banning single-use plastic packaging in a string of other countries including Portugal and Sweden, and has already had to comply with reusable cup measures in Germany and the Netherlands by offering reusable cup.

QSR Magazine: Olo wants to help restaurants build a digital powerhouse
Olo CEO Noah Glass believes that more digitization is the right strategy, but that companies building their own proprietary tech stack to get there is incorrect. A "homegrown" platform requires maintenance, or as Glass puts it, “You don’t just buy the car. You got to put gas in it." Glass said "losing out on the 300 integrated technology partners that plug into our platform, I think is also something that speaks to why the platform not only makes economic sense but makes innovation sense for a brand"
