Owen Community,

In this season of Thanksgiving, I want to share a note of gratitude with all of you. You have warmly welcomed me to Owen, and I appreciate the opportunities to see our vibrant community in action.

During the last few months, I have heard from many faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Several themes emerged from the discussions, but the importance of being in a supportive community stood out the most. Owen fosters strong professional and personal connections, and people look out for each other even in difficult times. The stories shared with me reflect meaningful, transformative experiences and genuine care about the success of others.

Let’s work together to finish strong during this stressful time of year and make the most of what makes Owen unique. As you wrap up final projects, study for exams, and prep for career activities, take care of yourself and extend support to others as best as possible. In this way, we will find lasting success.

Best wishes,

Tom

Deadline TOMORROW: Housing Guide for Incoming Students
We are launching a short, anonymous survey to obtain information about current students’ housing experiences to help incoming students with their transition to Nashville. Securing housing is often one of the biggest stressors in the transition process for new students. Providing your feedback will help us create a helpful housing guide for incoming students to make confident housing decisions.

Please take 5 minutes to share your insights. The housing guide is being put together with the help of VeryApt, a startup in the real estate technology industry. The survey will not ask for name or contact information, and participation is optional. The deadline to complete the survey is Tuesday, November 28.

Humans of Owen
Lunch Hour on Adversity, Mental Health & Adapting to Change
Join us for a powerful lunch hour on Wednesday, December 6, as the Owen Student Goverment Association’s (OSGA) EDI Committee presents Humans of Owen (HoO) with a theme centered around navigating adversity, managing mental health, and adapting to change.

Started in 2016, HoO has become a cherished tradition at Owen, providing a platform for students to share personal, vulnerable stories. This mod's event features Emma Hicks (MBA‘25), Sam Turner (MBA‘24), and Evelyn Ward (MBA‘24).

Please be aware that the discussion may include sensitive content related to mental health. The stories shared are intended for reflection, fostering a deeper understanding of each other's journeys. Don't miss this opportunity to connect and empathize with the resilient voices within our community.
