UNC Men’s Health Program, Carolina Demography Launch Innovative Web Tool to Combat Prostate Cancer Disparities in North Carolina
Prostate cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer death for men in North Carolina. Eric Wallen, MD, professor of urology at the UNC School of Medicine and a member of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, is co-leading the effort to improve diagnostic and health outcomes for all North Carolinians with prostate cancer, including Black and Native American men, who are disproportionately affected.

UNC School of Medicine students completed a half marathon in Durham in early December and donated their race medals to pediatric patients at the UNC Hospitals Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Clinic. The students are part of a new student organization, Medals4Mettle.
