The paper was published Oct. 31 in the journal Science Signaling, and was titled “Redox-active endosomes mediate α5β1 integrin signaling and promote chondrocyte matrix metalloproteinase production in osteoarthritis.”

Jonah Pierce, RN, received the 2023 Dr. Patrick Kenny Certified Nurse of the Year Award from the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care. This award is given to the certified nurse who exemplifies excellence in HIV/AIDS Nursing and who advances the mission of the HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board.

Are More Younger Women Getting Breast Cancer?
Women who are younger than 45 account for about 9 percent of breast cancer diagnoses, says UNC Health oncologist Anureet Copeland, MD. Research published in August 2023, however, shows cancer among younger Americans, especially women, is on the rise.

Physicians, PAs Quality Improvement Work Can Earn MOC Credits 
Physicians and physicians assistants can earn maintenance of certification or continuing certification credits with their ongoing quality improvement work.  

UNC Hospitals is working with the American Board of Medical Specialties Portfolio Program to help our teammates earn MOC Part IV Credit from participating ABMS Member Boards or PI-CME credit from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. 

The deadline to apply for 2023 credit is Monday, Nov. 27. Note: Clicking ‘read more’ will open content requiring a u-number login.
