Developing Science Talent with USRA’s Education Organization: About Doreen, Amanda and Missy | Every year, roughly 20 percent of USRA’s revenue is devoted to education and STEM workforce development. During the summer months especially, several experiential learning and internship programs are hosted or managed by USRA with the support of USRA’s education organization. In this “USRA Career Story” we talk to Doreen, Amanda and Missy. At 10 months, six years, and 24 years of experience with USRA, respectively, these women bring unique perspectives as well as a shared fondness for their work that carries on USRA’s 44-year-long commitment to developing science talent.

How is USRA a Nonprofit? | The short answer: As a nonprofit, USRA exists for the public good. USRA’s income is used to fulfill its nonprofit public purpose, which reads, in part, as “…the development and application of space-related science, technology and engineering.” In contrast, a for-profit has owners, who receive a return or “profit” on their investment.

| USRA Selected as Member of the PHaSER Program Supporting NASA Goddard’s Heliophysics Division | NASA recently awarded a cooperative agreement entitled “The Partnership for Heliophysics and Space Environment Research” (PHaSER) to the Catholic University of America (CUA), Institute of Astrophysics and Computational sciences and five other partners including USRA. This cooperative agreement will support the scientific and technical program of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s Heliophysics Science Division (HSD).
