LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept 15, 2009) Eight Hollywood screenwriters will discover the diverse beauty and culture of the various islands throughout Tahiti. A seven-day, six-night trip to five of Tahiti’s most storied islands will uncover their culture, heritage, history, and adventure.

The trip, dubbed “France Unlimited Access 2: Mission Tahiti,” will offer an unforgettable experience for these distinguished screenwriters, whose credits include Gran Torino, Shakespeare in Love, Hitch or Shrek 2, as well as the Chronicles of Narnia and Scary Movie franchises.

The innovative and ambitious program was created to encourage story lines for potential Hollywood films from a cultural and historical perspective, as well as to introduce the scenic beauty into current and future filming projects.

The goal is to inspire and raise awareness of the destination to these screenwriters and beyond, which may offer an opportunity for the islands of Tahiti to welcome more filming projects in the coming years.

Taking place from September 16 – 24, 2009, the screenwriters will visit the islands of Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, Huahine, and Hiva Oa. The project was made possible through a partnership between Film France (the French Film Commission), Tahiti Tourisme, Air Tahiti Nui and the Los Angeles Film & Television Office of the French Embassy, with the support of the Tahiti Film Office. Co-partners include InterContinental Hotels & Resorts French Polynesia, SPM Hotels, Resorts & Spa and Tahiti Yacht Charters.

Activities and adventures include jet skiing across the open ocean from Bora Bora to a nearby uninhabited atoll; spear fishing for mahi-mahi with a unique Tahitian sport-fishing speedboat; shark feeding; a 4 X 4 adventure over a jagged edged, lush island in the Marquesas; and the ultimate survivor experience in an abandoned valley on the island of Hiva Oa.

Other experiences will include cultural visits to Polynesia’s most amazing archeological sites; Tahitian style picnic on a private islet; sailing from the island of Bora Bora to Huahine using celestial navigation; and searching for whales in the bays of Moorea.

Last but certainly not least, the screenwriters will also have the opportunity to stay in Tahiti’s famed accommodation – the overwater bungalow at one of Bora Bora’s top resorts. Film France organized the first “France: Unlimited Access” in Paris and Marseille in November 2008.
