| Pearl Resorts & Spa and Le Taha’a Private Island & Spa |
|
Pearl Resorts & Spa and Le Taha’a Private Island & Spa and Manea Spa are pleased to announce the pursuit of Green Globe certification for all eight resort properties, in an effort to establish an ongoing commitment to the enhancement and preservation of “Tahiti’s Hidden Paradise.”
Benchmarking is the first step toward improving the portfolio’s environmental, economic and social performance. After submitting annual benchmarking measurements, the resort will receive an assessment which helps identify areas of improvement and comparisons against the industry baseline of best practice levels. Over the next year, Green Globe will assess all eight resorts in terms of their energy consumption, water consumption, waste production, community commitment, water saving, waste recycling, use of paper, pesticide and chemical products.
In an effort to secure approval in these areas, the group has rededicated their practices to further contribute to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. Some of these practices include, but are not limited to:
• Water conservation, including harnessing solar energy for hot water use, encouraging guests to reuse towels, cleaning/treating waste water and collecting rain water
• Recycling both waste and paper products and using eco-friendly cleaning products
• Coral nurseries in Moorea and Bora Bora and resort-wide “reef check” programs for marine maintenance
• The use of indigenous and local materials for resort construction
• Employment of local Polynesian residents and financial support of local associations
• The use of electrical cars around the resort grounds
• The pursuit of new energy sources, such as wind-based and photovoltaic technology

| St Regis Bora Bora Opens Sushi Take |
|
Complementing Lagoon, the resort’s signature Jean-George Vongerichten restaurant, Sushi Take offers guests the opportunity to enjoy Chef Kiyoshi Ogawa’s masterful seafood creations. The restaurant is decorated with bamboo, a traditional element in Japanese architecture, which provides the inspiration for its name: Take means “bamboo” in Japanese. Chef Ogawa brings his experience in traditional and modern Japanese cooking, with such delights as Sushi Royal, seven different types of fish made as spicy as the guest desires; Osusume, a variety of seven seasonal fish, highlighting the best the region has to offer, and in a special take on Jean-Georges’ chocolate soufflé cake, Chef Ogawa has created a chocolate cake with ginger sorbet.
In addition to the delectable seafood offerings, Sushi Take, is also offering seven different kinds of sake, each of which takes their flavor from the varying origins of the rice. Guests can choose sweet, mild or dry sake, all of which can be served hot or cold according to taste. By the end of the summer, Sushi Take will also be opening a section in the restaurant dedicated to cooking traditional Japanese hot dishes such as kaiseki and tempura. |
