SPF40 Media Luncheon
SPF40 held it's annual media luncheon this week! The turnout was outstanding and the quality of media that attended was exceptional. For 2007, the SPF40 committee had opted to hold the media event well in advance of the actual SPF40 event. The purpose of doing this was to ensure some exposure for the event and to begin the industry buzz a few months beforehand.

Jonathan Reap - Tahiti Tourisme North America

Sue Herrick - Vanuatu Islands Tourism

Adeline Lee Erasito - Fiji Visitors Bureau

On Wednesday, July 18, the SPF40 committee of eight South Pacific destinations held the annual media luncheon to announce the SPF40 2007 event.

The luncheon was held at Café del Rey in Marina del Rey, CA – near Los Angeles Int’l airport.

The SPF40 committee was extremely pleased with the turnout of media. We had a total of 36 media confirmed for the luncheon, and were elated to have over 40 media attend! The following publications were among the media present:

  • Departures Magazine
  • Gayot.com
  • Islands Magazine
  • Los Angeles Times
  • ModernAgent
  • National Geographic Adventure
  • Robb Report
  • Sport Diver Magazine
  • Westways Magazine

The event was held from 12:00 noon to 2:30 PM. Seven of the eight participating countries from the South Pacific destinations had the opportunity to present their country through a five-minute PowerPoint presentation. Unfortunately, Tonga could not be present at the event.

Following the destination presentations, the representatives from the Cook Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tahiti and Vanuatu had the opportunity to mingle and meet with the media.

The freelancers, editors, staff writers and producers that attended the event were very pleased to have the opportunity to learn more about these seven South Pacific destinations at one convenient location. They also appreciated the one-on-one time with each of the representatives from the seven countries that were present.

The SPF40 committee, including representatives from Tahiti Tourisme North America, were very pleased with the overall event and the quality of media. The presentations and the professionalism of the seven countries present communicated their passion for their destinations, as well as their commitment to making the third annual SPF40 a success!
