Ia ora na Partners!
We are very pleased to bring you the following media exposure received throughout North America over the past several weeks! On behalf of the destination, we’d like to take a moment to thank all of our partners (on both sides of the equator) for their hard work in achieving these results.
The Public Relations agencies and in-house PR Partners in particular have done a tremendous job of practicing the “co-opetition” theme presented a few years ago at TTNA’s Public Relations Summit. We’d like to thank each and every one of them for their combined efforts and for keeping us in the loop on their results.
The following articles should speak for themselves!

“Bora-Bora: Dreams are made in French Polynesia” by Rosemary McClure
We’re
very pleased to announce that the highly anticipated article from
Rosemary McClure of the Los Angeles Times has been released! Rosemary
made her second trip to the islands of Tahiti just last month – she
hadn’t been there since 1985! Her assignment was to cover the newest
resorts on the island and to compare these
resorts with some of Bora’s “classic” properties – as well as provide
readers with an overview of how best to experience Tahiti’s “Romantic
Island.”
The writer contacted Tahiti Tourisme North America
for advice, contacts, and direction on how to tackle her assignment
logistically. The TTNA and GIE Tahiti Tourisme teams were very pleased to be involved in the trip
from the start.
We should note here that the Los Angeles Times has a policy of not accepting
anything hosted during their editorial research trips. Tourism
office, hotels, airlines, and other providers are generally not aware that they’re catering to a
writer for the US’s fourth largest newspaper. Although we were able to
join Rosemary for a portion of her trip, she covered all
of her expenses on her own – this ensures that the writer is providing her
readers the most candid overview of the destination and products
therein.
Many thanks to all of our partners for their gracious
assistance and true Polynesian hospitality. As Rosemary notes in her
article, “trip number 3 is already on (her) mental drawing board.”

"Vanilla, Coconut, and Sandalwood: Prepare to be Seduced by the Scents & Spas of French Polynesia"
By Drew Limsky & Melissa Williams
Writer Melissa Williams traveled down with the agency representing Pearl Resorts a few years back. As we often advise partners, many PR projects take quite some time to come to fruition! The article was co-authored by writer Drew Limsky - a name many of you may recognize as Drew has visited our islands several time on several different assignments.
The ten full pages (without advertising!) cover many of the spas throughout the islands of Tahiti. The following Resorts, Cruise Yacht, and Spas were all covered in the article (listed in the order of appearance):
- Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa - St. Regis Resort Bora Bora - Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa - Bora Bora Cruises - Moorea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa - Sheraton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa - Le Taha'a Private Island & Spa.
Each section was separated by island, and then broke out all of the different resorts mentioned above into the following three categories: Spa Specifics, Get A Room!, and Downtime. Each of the properties also received a phone number and a website following the write-up.
What would normally be positioned in a side-bar, the "Getting There" information on the last page of the article (photo on right) is in the sky above Le Taha'a (with Bora Bora in the distance). Contact information for Air Tahiti Nui and Tahiti Tourisme is included.

"Bunga-low" by Chris Bunting
Chris Bunting, who traveled down to the islands last year wrote-up this article addressing whether or not Tahiti can be done relatively inexpensively. With "leading Tahiti experts," he explores land versus cruise packages, and the best way to visit the islands of Tahiti if one's on a budget.
Robin Turner, a travel counselor with American Express is quoted saying: "With the help of an expert to navigate through the promos, you can find some smart deals at some terrific resorts." One of her examples is the current "pay 3, stay 5" package currently being offered by Bora Bora Lagoon Resort.
