 Hotel Bora Bora’s Blair Cup

It’s time again for Hotel Bora Bora’s Blair Cup! Blair Cup 2007 will take place on April 1st and the winner will receive a trophy presented by the hotel. The Blair Cup is a yearly Hobie Cat race, where competitors start at Hotel Bora Bora and sail around the island. The Blair Cup was founded in 1983 in honor of Mr.Ed Blair, one of Hotel Bora Bora’s famous repeat guests. A keen sailor, Mr.Blair has stayed at the hotel 44 times throughout the establishment’s 46 years of existence. Its charm is that cheating (and drinking) are not only allowed during the race, but actively encouraged! Stories of sinking ships, use of paddles, illegal boarding and running jokes have made this event an integral piece of Hotel Bora Bora’s iconic presence.

Reopening of Le Taha’a Private Island & Spa, Relais Chateaux

Le Taha’a Private Island & Spa, a Relais & Chateau Resort, reopened on March 5 after two months of renovations. In a continued effort to cater to the resort’s elite clientele, the property has added several brand-new amenities, including two new Royal Beach Villas, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a specialty fare at the Manea Spa, an entertainment and relaxation room, and a new diving center.

A luxurious addition to the existing accommodations, the two new Royal Beach Villas will each encompass approximately 2,906 square feet, including the bungalow terrace and private pool. Special amenities will include complimentary champagne and appetizers upon arrival, daily fresh flowers within the villa, one complimentary 30-minute spa treatment and a complimentary gift upon departure. To further cater to guests’ needs, a personal concierge will be dedicated to these two villas 24 hours a day, and for guests who stay eight nights, the resort will arrange a private Polynesian show. These villas will be available starting June 18, 2007.

At the resort’s signature Manea Spa, a new 430 square foot Fare Taurumi bungalow will be constructed, including a terrace with two hydro-massage jacuzzis and a treatment room with two massage beds.

In addition to the spa renovations, Le Taha’a will open a fully equipped, air-conditioned fitness room and a new resort lounge.

Finally, the resort will unveil new scuba center, offering an improved facility for diving enthusiasts to explore the underwater paradise surrounding the private island.

InterContinental Resort & Thalasso Spa has launched a video showcasing their deep Sea Water Air Conditioning system (SWAC). This is a system that eliminates the use of potentially hazardous compounds that deplete the ozone layer and is designed to save up to 90 % of the hotel's electricity consumption for air conditioning (or 2.5 million liters of fuel oil each year). On March 23-25, TTNA and partner representatives from Air Tahiti Nui, Happy Vacations, Islands in the Sun, Pleasant Holidays, Star Clippers, and Tahiti legends attended the Bay Area Travel Show. Traffic was steady throughout the weekend. Although not all the attendees were in the Tahiti target demographic, our partners discussed honeymoon vacations with a number of attendees and reported positive bookings!

The Boston Globe Travel Show held on March 23-25 attracted approximately 9000 attendees. TTNA and representatives from Pacific Holidays and Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti distributed collateral at the Seaport World Trade Center. The turnout during the trade portion (Friday afternoon and evening) was low in traffic; however, traffic picked up during Saturday and Sunday. Most of the interest in Tahiti was on honeymoon and general leisure vacations. Many attendees commented that Tahiti is a dream destination and plan to make it there in the near future.

Bourses de France is Maison de la France annual road show in Canada. TTNA was represented at the events in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal. The road show was very well organized and the attendees were very much interested in Tahiti. In Montreal, MDLF’s Managing Director, Jacqueline Dillman-Faure, opened the show with a luncheon followed by speeches and a presentation and recognized many influential women in the Travel and Tourism industry in honor of Women Day. VIP media and travel agents were invited to attend the luncheon and the event ended with a tradeshow.
