Overview - Cooperative PR Efforts Pay Off

A strong spirit of cooperation between our public relations partners was evident during September and October 2006. Spring O'Brien, Air Tahiti Nui's PR agency, initiated two projects that resulted in successful co-op experiences with TTNA and our partners. Additionally, in the spirit of coopetition, TTNA, Air Tahiti Nui, Pearl Resorts, Le Maitai Dream Fakarava and Te Tiare Beach an Outrigger Resort, initiated the "Tahiti Unplugged!" press trip.

 Projects Summary

A crew from Arts & Entertainment (A&E) visited Tahiti, Raiatea and Moorea for an upcoming show about Tahiti's culture. The show is scheduled to air on A&E November 19th, 2006. Shoot locations included: A visit to Taputapuatea and the Fa’aroa River on Raiatea; The Pearl Museum, The James Norman Hall, The Museum of Tahiti and Her Islands, and an ancient marae (sacred site) on the island of Tahiti, where the Grand Ballet performed; and, Moorea, where interviews with local artisans.

“Let's Shop,” a travel show featuring host Cheryl Gillespie’s enjoyable shopping and leisure experiences in destinations around the world, visited the islands of Tahiti, Bora Bora and Raiatea during October. “Let's Shop Tahiti” will air in the U.S. in April 2007. “Let's Shop” airs on CNBC World on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m., Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. and Sundays at 10:00 a.m. with a distribution of 17 million in the US (not including satellite). The show also airs worldwide on CTV Travel and OutTV in Canada, as well as the Living Channel in New Zealand and Discovery in Latin America.

The Tahiti Unplugged! press trip focused on soft adventure experiences on several of Tahiti's "undiscovered" islands, including Huahine, Fakarava, Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa. Traveling journalist / photographer team from Men's Journal and staff editor from Outside Magazine participated in the 10-day itinerary. The competitive spirit between the writers added to the dynamics of this successful trip. Both magazines plan their respective coverage to appear first quarter of 2007. A huge mauru’uru roa to all of our partners for their support on this trip!

Great news! Our collective and collaborative hard work in PR is paying off, as the following results show. Year to date, Tahiti has garnered 179,292,456 impressions in print and online outlets (including newspaper, magazine and Internet). The total AVE (ad value equivalent) of this exposure, meaning the dollar value it would cost to buy this amount of exposure at market rates, is $20,911,066. (Note -- results, including Impressions and AVE is calculated and reported by Burrelles online).
