Ia ora na!
After having grown and expanded considerably in the past five years, the Tahiti Tourisme North America public relations team is proud to announce its biggest accomplishment to date — a total of sixteen pages shot in Huahine in the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue! Tahiti was one of only five destinations to be featured in this year’s issue, the most popular magazine in America.
We have also included a recap of other media placements in the past month, and the usual section on promotions. If you have any comments or suggestions on our Partner Updates, please let us know at feedback@tahiti-tourisme.com.

If Tahiti’s overwater bungalows embody the dream vacation, what do you call overwater bungalows filled with supermodels? The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, the most-read single-issue magazine in America, hit the newsstands on February 15, and Tahiti was one of the stars. TTNA and partners Te Tiare Beach, an Outrigger Resort, and Air Tahiti Nui helped organize Sports Illustrated’s nearly two-week shoot on the island of Huahine last October. The end product was fourteen full pages of photos (Advertising Value Equivalence: over $5 million USD), one full-page ad, and one full-page of editorial in an issue read by about one in three adults in America. Also in the past month, In Style Weddings covered several of Tahiti’s islands in a five-page feature and Outside Traveler ran an extensive piece on the South Pacific, in addition to numerous other placements.

The issue includes a twelve-page photo spread, images on the “contents” and “rookies” pages, and one full-page of editorial on the resort, airline, and destination. TTNA was also able to negotiate one full-page of advertising within the issue, dedicated to the island of Huahine and using the same creative format as TTNA’s “We Dream in Color” advertising campaign.

| Promotions | Adventures in Travel Expo/The Luxury Show Washington, D.C. TTNA attended another in the Adventures in Travel/The Luxury Show series on February 10-12 at the Washington Convention Center. Although few travel agents showed up on the trade-only day (Friday), several journalists and other media stopped by to ask for the latest information on Tahiti. Traffic was heavy and steady throughout the day on Saturday, before a winter storm dumped 12 inches on the city. Due to the weather, attendance was down considerably on Sunday. Consumers showed particular interest in the dive market, and had lots of questions for TTNA and Partners Air Tahiti Nui, Pleasant Tahitian Holidays, and Aranui/CPTM, who all sent representatives to the Tahiti booth. Air New Zealand, InterContinental Resorts, Island Escapes by Goway, Islands in the Sun, and Caradonna Dive Adventures all participated with collateral. | The Tahiti booth at the Adventures in Travel Expo/The Luxury Show in Washington, D.C.
