FHLBC Honored at Esperanza Community Services 'Celebrating Victories Gala' | ||||
Esperanza Community Services, in partnership with First American Bank in Illinois, was awarded a $128,000 competitive AHP grant by the FHLBC in 2012, enabling the Chicago-based non-profit organization to purchase and rehabilitate two properties that will become new homes for adults with developmental disabilities. Dedicated to helping children and adults with developmental disabilities become as independent as possible, Esperanza Community Services honored the FHLBC at its annual 'Celebrating Victories Gala' in April for the Bank’s outstanding commitment toward helping expand Esperanza’s supported living program. With the addition of 16-units in the new homes, Esperanza is able to provide more adults with a living environment that encourages their productivity and independence in the community, strengthens their daily living skills, and enables their full potential to be reached. “We’re honored and humbled to receive such recognition from Esperanza Community Services,” says Sam Nicita, FHLBC’s Community Investment Officer, who accepted the 2013 Bobby Reyes Tribute Award on behalf of the Bank. “The FHLBC is proud to support Esperanza Community Services as they continue the important work of creating supportive and affordable housing options for those most in need. Our team was delighted to attend such a wonderful evening, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting many of the people that are positively impacted by this grant.” The gala fundraiser was held April 18, 2013, at the Union League Club of Chicago. FHLBC representatives in attendance included (from left to right): Dana Gibbs, Operations; Nicolette Jurgens-Tamminga, Community Investment; John Stocchetti, Chief Operating Officer; Chuck Childs, Community Investment; Jamie Ashbrook, Community Investment; Sam Nicita, Community Investment Officer; Michal Czopczyc, Community Investment; Susan Ashe, Community Investment; Melissa Warden, Director of Communications; Duane Bethea, Community Investment; and Torri Adams, Human Resources.
