Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies

TransLife Center - Chicago, Illinois

The Chicago House and Social Service Agency recently opened its newest project, TransLife Center (TLC).

The mission of TLC is to provide affordable, supportive housing for transgender persons with links to culturally competent healthcare and social services to help them overcome poverty and reduce their risk of experiencing homelessness, underemployment, violence, health disparities, and HIV infection. TLC is the first transitional housing project of its kind in the country and has already received national attention for its progressive and inclusive approach to serving this population.

The FHLBC awarded a $72,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) subsidy to the project in 2012 through MB Financial. Tim Klont, FHLBC Community Investment Senior Analyst, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony held on July 15, 2013.
