FHLBC Participates in Chicago Cares | ||||
The 20th Annual Chicago Cares Serve-a-Thon was held Saturday, June 15, 2013. Twenty-two FHLBC employees, along with 25 of their family and friends, joined the nearly 5,000 volunteers that participated in Chicago’s largest single day of community service. Underserved neighborhoods throughout the city were transformed by volunteers who painted classrooms, served senior citizens, and helped beautify playgrounds and parks. “I always envisioned that the FHLBC’s involvement with Chicago Cares would continue to grow each year and include more family and friends, and this year was no exception,” says Arie Halperin, FHLBC Mortgage Analytics Analyst and CommuniTeam Chair. “We had record participation, and everyone truly enjoyed volunteering their time to help build stronger communities.” The FHLBC CommuniTeam spent the day serving Reilly Elementary School on Chicago’s northwest side. Fresh coats of paint brightened up classrooms and hallways, team members took part in Reilly’s science and world fairs, and CommuniTeam created a mosaic entrance sign spelling the school’s name.
