Reminder Message: Handling Harvey Claims for Transferred Policies

Agents,

As a follow up to last week's message, we wanted to send a reminder to those of you who have policies in this past year’s Assumption Reinsurance Depopulation Program. Some policyholders and agents are attempting to file Harvey claims with TWIA. However, we want to confirm that transferred policies should file claims with their new company.

How to Handle Claims for Depop Policies

For claims with a date of loss on or after 12:01 AM on June 1, 2017, identify the policyholder's new insurance company, and follow their instructions about how to file a claim. Company information is provided at the following depopulation claims webpage

How to Access Your Depopulation Data:

If you need to track which policies are participating in depopulation, your agency admin in the TWIA system can visit the Agent Portal and go in the main menu to Policy > Listing to export your book of business. The depopulation status of the policy is shown in the last two fields of the spreadsheet: "Carrier Name" and "Depopulation Year." We recommend you reach out to these policyholders proactively to avoid confusion about claim filing.

To further assist with questions you may have, please call us at 1-800-208-5948.

Thank you,
